You must be at least 14 years old and have a valid driver's license, learner's permit, or state ID. Riders under 18 will need a parent or guardian at day-one check-in to sign a waiver in front of the RiderCoach — they only need to stay through check-in.

Start with the Basic RiderCourse (BRC). It assumes no prior riding experience and provides the motorcycle and helmet at no charge. After you finish, you can take the BRC2 down the road if you want more practice with your own bike.

For the BRC, no — a motorcycle and helmet are provided at no charge. For the BRC2, yes — you'll use your own motorcycle. You'll need current registration, proof of insurance, and a passing T-CLOCS inspection.

BRC is a 5-hour self-paced online eCourse followed by 10 hours of on-motorcycle training split across two consecutive days.

BRC2 is a 4-hour self-paced eCourse followed by a single 6-hour day on the range.

Range classes are capped at 8 students. You'll get plenty of individual attention from your RiderCoach.

You need a valid driver's license, driver's permit, or state ID to register. Active-duty service members who relocated to Colorado on a permanent change of station may use their out-of-state license.

Course fees are non-refundable. All rescheduling requests are handled on a space-available basis for a future course.

Rescheduling is free with 48 or more hours notice — we'll move you to a future course where space allows, and your payment carries over. Changes requested with less than 48 hours notice forfeit your prepaid course cost and incur a rescheduling fee: $250 for the BRC and $150 for the BRC2. Exceptions are handled case-by-case.

Cancellations follow the same policy as rescheduling — courses are non-refundable, but we'll do our best to find you a future date. Call the office at (970) 414-7433 to talk through options.

Everyone on the range must wear:

• Helmet — at least 3/4 with DOT approval (provided for BRC if you need one; BRC2 riders bring their own, available if needed)
• Eye protection (goggles, sunglasses, or prescription glasses)
• Long-sleeve shirt or jacket (no rips, no holes)
• Long denim pants or better (no flare, no rips)
• Sturdy over-the-ankle boots (no canvas, no fashion heels, no steel-toe)
• Full-finger gloves, preferably leather

For the Basic RiderCourse (BRC), helmets that meet our requirements are provided at no charge — though you're welcome to use your own. If you're taking the BRC2, please bring your own helmet (available if needed). Either way it must be at least a 3/4 helmet with DOT approval.

Yes — sunglasses or prescription glasses count as eye protection.

We train at the Steamboat Resorts Meadows Parking Lot, 2400 Pine Grove Road, Steamboat Springs, CO 80487.

You may be turned away. If you don't arrive on time to a scheduled class, you'll forfeit your prepaid course cost and will be charged a rescheduling fee. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early.

Ride Safe may, at our discretion, change start times or cancel a course at any time for weather, instructor, equipment, or facility reasons. Students impacted by a Ride Safe-initiated cancellation will be rescheduled with no fee.

Yes — passing both the written knowledge test and the hands-on skill evaluation earns you a course completion card. This card waives the Colorado DMV testing requirements, so you can add the (M) endorsement to your license without any additional testing. Schedule your DMV appointment for no sooner than 24 hours after your scheduled course completion — that allows time for your results to be processed and transferred to the DMV.

Not passing happens occasionally and isn't the end of the road. Your RiderCoach and our staff will guide you through options — including retaking the course or part of the course for the standard rescheduling fee. Exceptions and fee adjustments are handled case-by-case.

You might. Many insurance carriers offer a discount for riders who complete an MSF-approved course. Ask your agent — bring your course completion card.
